主讲人简介：Jaime E. Munoz Rivera教授，巴西国家科技部科学计算实验室研究员，博士生导师，1987年在巴西里约热内卢联邦大学获得博士学位，任三个国际数学期刊编委，承担30多项巴西国家自然科学基金，发表160余篇学术论文，他引次数超过1800次，先后访问10多个国家和地区的大学和研究机构，50余次在国际学术会议上做学术报告，先后培养40余名博士和博士后人员。

内容摘要：In this lecture, we will show some sufficient conditions to a family of semigroups to be exponentially stable, that is, we will show when a semigroup is or not is exponential stable. The difference with other characterizations like Gearhart-Prüss-Sheng Theorem is that instead of using the limitation of the resolvent operator we consider some properties of the essential spectral radius. Finally, we show some applications to elasticity and thermoelasticity.
