报告人简介:Prof. Andrew Whittaker isAustralian Professorial Fellow and Senior Group Leader within the AustralianInstitute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology, at The University ofQueensland. Whittakeris a polymeric physical chemist with underpinning expertise in NMR and MRI ofmaterials. His work focusses on understanding science at the interface, whetherthat be the interface between materials and biological entities, or theinterface between synthetic materials. He has contributed advances to everymajor lithographic node over the past 20 year. He holds a number of patents inthese areas and his research discoveries have been licensed to majorcorporations.
报告摘要:Per- and polyfluoroalkylsubstances (PFAS) are synthetic chemical compounds, which are highly stable andcan accumulate and persist in the environment for decades. Much recentattention has been given to the potential harmful effects to humans arisingfrom prolonged exposure to PFAS. Thus, effective removal of PFAS from theenvironment has become a major focus of a number research groups. In thisreport we describe the design of partly-fluorinated and cationic blockcopolymers for removal of a range of PFAS molecules. Our materials out-performother reported technologies for removal of a wide range of PFAS.
